The effects of aging on the body are inevitable for most people. Some of us are lucky and age well, others of us don’t age quite so well. There are hundreds of products on the market that claim to halt or reverse the effects of aging on the skin. The legendary idea of stopping the process of aging is not a new and has most probably been around for thousands of years. Druids and medicine men alike, throughout history, have spent years upon years trying to find a ‘fountain of eternal youth’. There is no doubt that throughout the ages some of these potions and elixirs would have been downright dangerous. In fact during the Ming Dynasty the Emperor Jiajing died after taking a mercury based potion that had been designed by his alchemists that was supposed to give him eternal life. Luckily science has advanced somewhat since those days and everyone now knows that mercury is no good to our health. But are we any closer to knowing how to stop the aging process?

No potions of eternal youth have ever been found… Yet. However we have advanced dramatically in our ability to slow the aging process, if not stop it all together. How old we look is generally directly related to our lifestyles. So often in todays world we are told we need to buy this product and that product to keep us looking young and healthy. In reality it is not that simple. Maintaining a healthy and youthful looking body relies on a variety of lifestyle factors. If you are stressed and tired your skin can loose it radiance for example. Healthy skin is dependent on a healthy balanced diet, exercise, a low stress lifestyle and using good quality skin care products.
The question then becomes what makes a good quality skin care product? It seems to be commonly held knowledge that products made from natural and organic products are held in higher esteem than products made purely from laboratory mixed chemicals. The finer the ingredient the more benefits it has in its uses in skin care products. Perhaps the most highly prized natural ingredients in cosmetics and skin care products is caviar, and it seems, for good reason.

Caviar traditionally was well known for its almost mythical status as a food only available for the super rich, good caviar at least. These days caviar comes in a range of different qualities and can even be found in most supermarkets. Caviar is made from the roe of certain species of fish, the most well known comes from the sturgeon fish. Some say the word caviar came from the persian word chav-jar, which means Cake of power.
Caviar is rich in protein and serves multiple purposes when used in skin care products. It is claimed to minimize the effects and signs of aging on the skin. Caviar is held in especially high regard in the treatment of wrinkles and aging around the eyes. It also increases the elasticity of the skin, and improves the general firmness and tone of the skin.
Caviar may not stop the aging process but caviar is probably the closest thing we have to slowing the effects of aging on the skin. La Prairie Creme Caviar Luxe is a perfect example of a skin care cream that uses caviar.
